Anne of Green Gables

Hello! When I went on vacation to Canada, I read Anne of Green Gables, because it was set in Canada. I really enjoyed it, and I hope you do too.

Anne Shirley is an orphan who has had many homes, the most recent of which is an orphan asylum in Nova Scotia. When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert decide to adopt a boy to help with the work at Green Gables, they send word to Mrs. Spencer, who was getting a little girl herself. However, when Matthew arrives at the train station to get the little boy, he finds only a red-haired girl with a big imagination. This book is the story of Anne’s life at Green Gables. This is a classic tale for all ages.

Anne of Green Gables is written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and first published in 1908. There are 12 books in the Anne of Green Gables series. The second book is called Anne of Avonlea. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Until next time!

Where I Blog: Desk

Hi! I know that I’ve never done this before, but I’m going to post about where I blog. This is going to be about my desk.

My desk is in my room, next to my bed. I love sitting here on nice days because I can see the yard, and the treehouse. I can also see the leaves of the big tree that lives in the yard. I also love that I have a lamp on my desk, so when it’s dark out, I can still see what I’m doing. I have a few little things on my desk, like shells and rocks, as well as some gel pens and pencils. I really enjoy working at my desk.

Do you have any desks, or other places, that you like to work at? if so, comment below. I’ll be watching! Until next time.

The Boxcar Children

The Boxcar Children is one of my favorite easy-read series. I love reading about the different ways Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny find to solve each and every mystery.

Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden, also known as the Boxcar Children, lived in a boxcar for a while when their parents died. They had heard that their grandfather was a very mean man, and they would rather live in an abandoned train car than live with him. When they meet a kind old gentleman, they grow to look up to him. Little do they know, he’s their grandfather! Once the children realize that their grandfather isn’t a mean old man, they go to live at his house. They earn a reputation for being great mystery solvers and hard workers. People come to them with all sorts of mysteries.

If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll try the Boxcar Children. I love this series. It’s good for beginning readers as well as more advanced readers. I really like it, and I know you will too. Until next time!

Rainbow Magic Fairies

This is a quick series that I go to when I want something easy. There are a LOT of books in this series, which makes it good for getting out of the library.

Rachel Walker and Kirsty Tate have a secret. Ever since they went on vacation to Rainspell Island together, they have been helping the fairies get their stolen magic objects back from the evil Jack Frost and his goblins. The fairies find creative ways to thwart the evildoers in every book. The books range from Madeline the Cookie Fairy to Stacey the Soccer Fairy. If you want to find a Rainbow Magic Fairies about one of your interests, search “rainbow magic fairies” and then put your interest. It may not come up, but the chances are good that it will.

This series is written by 4 writers, Narinder Dhami, Sue Bentley, Linda Chapman, and Sue Mongredien, under the pseudonym of Daisy Meadows. Comment below if you have anything to say about this series, such as your experience with the books.

Unicorn Crafts

I just got this book a few days ago, and I’m already coming up with ideas for Christmas presents. I love crafting and unicorns, so when I saw this book, I just had to get it. I hope you like it as much has I do.

Unicorn Crafts has more than 2 dozen unicorn crafts made for kids and adults alike, including a unicorn sleep mask, a unicorn plush toy, a unicorn phone case, and even unicorn galaxy shoes! Some crafts are easy, while others are harder. While a few crafts in this book require adult assistance with sewing or super glue, others can be made by kids. The unicorn sleep mask looks like a fun thing to make at a sleepover.

I hope you love this book as much as I do. It is written by Isabel Urbina Gallego, the creator of YouTube channels Isa’s World and El Mundo de Isa. Comment below if you want to show off one of the crafts you made, if you want to share a video you found on YouTube on one of Isa’s channels, or if you just have a comment.

The End of the Beginning

Hello again! This book is a quick one that I’ve read quite a few times. It has a few moral lessons woven into a fun tale. I hope you like it.

A snail named Avon craves adventure. One day, he decides that if he doesn’t leave right then and there, he never will. While preparing to set out on his adventure, he meets an ant named Edward. I enjoyed this book because it was short and it was fun to read. The characters were funny, but there were also parts that had deeper meanings. This book has multiple levels, so it can appeal to readers of all ages. Edward and Avon are delightful characters. It is fun to see their unique views on the world.

This book is by award-winning author Avi. I hope you decide to try it out. I think you’ll really enjoy it. Comment below if you have anything to say about this book, any other books by the author, or something else. Until next time!

Treehouse 2

I posted about the treehouse earlier, but I wanted to show you guys what it looks like now. We’ve added a few other things, and it takes the treehouse to a whole new level.

One of the things that we added was a way to take small things up to the treehouse without bringing them up the stairs. We attached a red bucket to a rope and pulley. Perfect for bringing up books and snacks! Another thing we added, one of the most basic things, was rope in between the railings. It’s so cool to look at! We got two big bins at The Container Store, one for me and one for my brother. Then, we went to The Home Depot and got two chair cushions. We put them on top of the bins. Instant seating and storage! We also got walkie talkies so we can communicate with others from the treehouse. For example, if Mom wanted to tell us to come in for dinner, she wouldn’t have to yell. The last thing we added was a reading swing underneath. We can swing it a bit, or just sit and read.

I love all the things we did to the treehouse. If we do any more, I’ll be sure to post. Comment below if you have a treehouse or a favorite place to read.

Organizing

One of the problems of being a reader is your collection of books. My personal collection had gotten out of hand, to the point that my book corner was overflowing. My mom and I started organizing it.

The task of my book corner has been an overwhelming part of cleaning my room. When we finally started to tackle it, it wasn’t as bad as it looked. First, we dumped all of my books in one place. (I sure wish I had a picture of that. Sadly, at that point I didn’t know I would be writing a post about it.) After we got them all in one place, I had to sort them into Keep, Give Away, Workbooks, Mementos, and ?. Once they were all sorted, we started to put the Keep books back on the shelf. So far, we have organized my chapter books. Series goes first, organized by author. Next are the stand-alone books, also organized by author. I haven’t done any of my picture books yet. I’ll do those later.

I got all of my chapter books organized, and I’m going to donate a lot of books. Pretty good work for one day! Anyway, let me know below in the comments if you have a different way of organizing your bookshelves. Until next time!

Grandma’s

Hello again! I’m in Kentucky, staying at my Grandma’s house. This is going to be about a new room that my grandparents recently added to their house.

My grandparents call it the sun room. There are two armchairs, one couch, and one table with four chairs. At the bottom of the post there are a few pictures of me in the sun room. At the table with me is my brother, Declan. Anyway, continuing. The room has, as the name indicates, big windows that let in natural sunlight. There are two fans that keep the room from getting too hot, although it sometimes gets a bit humid. I really enjoy reading in the sun room partially because it’s like you’re outside, but inside at the same time.

This is one of my favorite places to read when I am at my grandparents’ house. If you have a favorite place to read at your grandparents’ house, or your own house, tell me in the comments below.

Re-Reading

Hello again! In this post, I will talk about some of the books I like to re-read, and why I like to re-read them. Onto the post!

One of my favorite series to re-read is Keeper of the Lost Cities (You might recall this series from my preview post). I really enjoy constantly going back to these books because they have adventure, friendship, and a wonderful story. (Still waiting for book 8!) Another one of my favorite series that I am currently re-reading is Harry Potter. Many people have read Harry Potter, but if you haven’t, I will post a review that will hopefully encourage you to do so. Anyway, continuing. I like to sometimes skip around to my favorite parts of the books. It’s really fun. Another thing I like to do is read my favorite book in the series from top to bottom. It’s never as exciting as the first time, but I do like going back and re-reading my favorite books.

Let me know below in the comments what you think of re-reading, or what books you like to re-read. I’ll be watching! Until next time.
