Lee Road Library

Today, I will be writing about the Lee Road Library. It is the library that I normally go to, and it has some really cool features. Hopefully, if you’re ever around, you decide to check it out.

When you walk into the library, on the left, there is a small area with some shelves of both fiction and nonfiction books and a couple chairs. If you continue forward and then turn left, you enter the children’s section. It is a lovely place. The walls are painted with a mural of a lot of famous children’s books, ranging from Goodnight Moon to Anne of Green Gables. There is a small aquarium, a few places to sit and read, and a play area for younger kids. If you turn right instead of left, you see the teen section and the audio visual section (where things such as movies and video games are housed). If you head up the stairs, you come to the adult section. There are computers that you can use, along with printers and copiers. There are also meeting rooms that you can reserve, and, of course, many shelves of books. In addition, there are comfortable chairs near glass walls so that you can read or do homework with a view. There is a glass bridge that connects the main library building with the HKIC, or Heights Knowledge and Innovation Center, a technological workspace. Finally, there is a small, partly hidden garden outside with charming log benches and a sign that points to various fantasy places, such as Hogwarts and Narnia.

Below are some photos of the Lee Road branch of Heights Libraries. I’m really excited to share my library with you! Comment and let me know what your favorite part of your library is!

Side Porch

Hello again, and happy summer vacation! I’ll be posting a lot more frequently now. This first post will be about my side porch, a place I read progressively more often when it gets warmer out.

I enjoy reading on the side porch because, well, first of all, I have a really cool porch swing. It’s wooden and can swing pretty high, or can just rock gently, depending on my mood and how hard I push. It can be uncomfortable at times, but if I bring out some pillows, the problem is solved. I also enjoy reading on my side porch because I can be outside, but not completely. It’s not screened in, but there is a roof over it, so it’s like I’m inside and outside at the same time. And, finally, it’s just really nice to read outside. I like to look at nature (or suburban yards, but at least they have grass and flowers!) when I read in the summer. I get that from the treehouse as well; yet another reason to read there.

Do you like reading outside? Do you have a porch swing, or a deck with chairs? Let me know in the comments below, and watch out for more posts coming soon!

Like my swing?
The pillows make it more comfortable!

Treehouse 2

I posted about the treehouse earlier, but I wanted to show you guys what it looks like now. We’ve added a few other things, and it takes the treehouse to a whole new level.

One of the things that we added was a way to take small things up to the treehouse without bringing them up the stairs. We attached a red bucket to a rope and pulley. Perfect for bringing up books and snacks! Another thing we added, one of the most basic things, was rope in between the railings. It’s so cool to look at! We got two big bins at The Container Store, one for me and one for my brother. Then, we went to The Home Depot and got two chair cushions. We put them on top of the bins. Instant seating and storage! We also got walkie talkies so we can communicate with others from the treehouse. For example, if Mom wanted to tell us to come in for dinner, she wouldn’t have to yell. The last thing we added was a reading swing underneath. We can swing it a bit, or just sit and read.

I love all the things we did to the treehouse. If we do any more, I’ll be sure to post. Comment below if you have a treehouse or a favorite place to read.

Grandma’s

Hello again! I’m in Kentucky, staying at my Grandma’s house. This is going to be about a new room that my grandparents recently added to their house.

My grandparents call it the sun room. There are two armchairs, one couch, and one table with four chairs. At the bottom of the post there are a few pictures of me in the sun room. At the table with me is my brother, Declan. Anyway, continuing. The room has, as the name indicates, big windows that let in natural sunlight. There are two fans that keep the room from getting too hot, although it sometimes gets a bit humid. I really enjoy reading in the sun room partially because it’s like you’re outside, but inside at the same time.

This is one of my favorite places to read when I am at my grandparents’ house. If you have a favorite place to read at your grandparents’ house, or your own house, tell me in the comments below.

Treehouse

I just realized that I promised book reviews and where I like to read, and have only written book reviews! This is about my treehouse.

My dad and grandpa recently finished a treehouse in my backyard. I enjoy reading there. It’s on four posts that are secured into the ground, because we don’t have any trees strong enough to hold it. Despite that, it still feels like I’m in the trees, due to the big tree, whose branches stretch over the treehouse.

Here are a few pictures of me reading Nightfall, the 6th book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series (you might remember it from my preview post), in my treehouse.
